Welcome to the 2nd Grade Math Salamanders 2 Times Table Worksheets. Here you will find our selection of free multiplication worksheets to help your child learn their multiplication table.
Multiplication is introduced as a concept around Grade 2.
Unlike addition and subtracting, multiplication is a concept that does not come naturally to many children. Quite a lot of time may need to be dedicated in developing children's understanding of what multiplcation is and how it works. Time spent doing this is time well spent, so that children become more confident with their understanding of multiplication before they continue their journey into the multiplication table and solving multiplication problems.
The multiplication learning in 2nd Grade underpins future learning of the multiplication table, and the standard multiplication algorithm learnt in future grades.
During 2nd grade, children should be learning the following multiplication skills:
- understand what multiplication is and how it works;
- know the multiplication table to 5x5;
- solve simple multiplication problems.

The results, shown in the worksheet are the results of multiplying 2 by all whole numbers, from 1 to 12.
2 Times Table Chart Up To 10
The 2 times table is a mathematical table that lists the multiples of 2.
The results, shown in the table below, are the results of multiplying 2 by all whole numbers, from 1 to 10 .
2 Times Table Chart Up To 12
Here, you will have a 2x multiplication table with multiplicands up to 12.
Count the 2s Product and Color by Number
First, look at the drawing of the monkey. There are some simple 2s multiplication written all over it.
- Now solve those problems. You will see, that for each solution, there is a color code mentioned in the paper.
- Here comes the most fun part! Color the monkey according to the color code.
Counting by 2s Dot to Dot
Now it’s time to match the worksheet by connecting the dots. These dots indicate the 2s table from 1 to 15. After connecting the dots, students will find a hidden photo.
Finding the 2 Times Table with Multiplication Product in Rocket
This is a basic multiplication worksheet.
- Here, multiply other numbers by 2.
- In the tail of the rockets, write the products of the numbers given on the rockets .
Complete 2 Times Multiplication Circle
As you can see, there is a number written in the inner circle of the three circles, which is 2. Some numbers are provided in the second outer circle. The third circle from the outside is empty.
- The numbers from the second circle must be multiplied by 2 in the inner circle.
- Then, in the third outside circle, write the product.
Match 2 Times Multiplication Product Table
Now, you’ll discover that the worksheet includes the multiplication and its products, but the locations of the products are incorrect. The goal of this worksheet is to draw a line that corresponds to the expression’s product.
Finding the Missing Number in 2 Times Multiplication
By dividing the result by 2, it is possible to get the missing number. For practice, you can also use the multiplication table two times.
Count the Elements and Find the 2 Times Multiplication Expression
This is a counting game. Count the elements in each set. Suppose you have 2 sets of apples, and every set has 5 apples. So you need to count the sets of apples, which are 2, and the number of apples per set, which is 5. So, the total number of apples is 2×5=10.
Solve the Maze Counting by 2 Times Table
All you need to do is make a worksheet of random numbers where the 2s are included.
- First, find the 2s numbers from the starting point and mark them until the endpoint.
- For example, when a student starts the maze, she will mark 2 and 6 as they are multiples of 2. In this way, she will continue until the endpoint.
Cross the River Counting by 2 Times Table
Now it’s time to play another game while solving the 2s multiplication.
For this activity, provide a number sheet that is written on stones. Find the 2S products and color them to help the pirate cross the river .
2 Times Multiplication Cut and Paste Game
This worksheet will be based on a simple cut-and-paste game. See the first number, where some numbers from 2-30 are given. But all the numbers are not present.
The missing numbers are provided in the lower box as a clue. Cut each of the numbers that are multiples of 2 and paste them in their right position in the upper box.

Students who are first learning multiplication often have difficulty with this operation. Demonstrate to students that multiplication is essentially a quick way of adding groups. For example, if they have five groups of three marbles each, students could solve the problem by determining the sum of the groups: 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 3. If the students know how to multiply, however, they can much more quickly calculate that five groups of three can be represented by the equation 5 x 3, which equals 15.
The free worksheets below offer students plenty of opportunities to hone their multiplication skills. First, print the multiplication table in slide No. 1. Use it to help students learn their multiplication facts . The subsequent slides feature printables that give students a chance to practice one- and two-digit multiplication facts to 12. Use manipulatives—physical items such as gummy bears, poker chips, or small cookies—to show students how to create groups (such as seven groups of three) so they can observe in a concrete way that multiplication is just a quick way of adding groups. Consider using other teaching tools, such as flashcards, to help boost student multiplication skills .

Show students how the table works and how they can use it to solve the multiplication problems in the subsequent worksheets. For example, use the chart to show students how to solve any multiplication problem to 12, such as 1 x 1 = 2, 7 x 8 = 56, and even 12 x 12 = 144.

This worksheet containing single-digit multiplication is perfect for giving students one-minute drills. Once students have learned the multiplication table from the previous slide, use this printable as a pretest to see what students know. Simply hand out a printable to each student, and explain that they will have one minute to answer as many multiplication problems as they can. When students complete the one-minute worksheet, you can record their scores on the upper right-hand corner of the printable.

This printable introduces two-digit problems, including several problems with 11 or 12 as one of the factors —the numbers you multiply together to calculate the product (or answer). This worksheet may intimidate some students, but it needn't be daunting to them. Use the multiplication chart from slide No. 1 to review how students can easily arrive at the answers for problems involving 11 or 12 as factors.
One- and Two-Digit Drill

Use this printable to give students another one-minute drill, but in this case, the problems have one- or two-digit factors. In addition to several problems with factors of 11 or 12, a couple of the problems have 10 as one of the factors. Before giving the drill, explain to students that to find the product of two numbers where one of the factors is 10, simply add a zero to the number being multiplied by 10 to get your product.

It contains only two two-digit problems, both with 10 as one of the factors. As such, this would be a good worksheet to send home as a homework assignment. Use this printable as a summative test , an assessment to see what students have learned to this point. Have students put away their multiplication tables. Don't give this test as a one-minute drill. Instead, give students 15 or 20 minutes to complete the worksheet. If students show that they have learned their multiplication facts fairly well, move on the subsequent worksheets. If not, review how to solve multiplication problems and let students repeat some of the previous worksheets.

This is our most popular page due to the wide variety of worksheets for multiplication available. Or it could be that learning multiplication facts and multiplication strategies are essential to many topics in mathematics beyond third grade math.
Learning multiplication facts to the point of quick recall should be a goal for all students and will serve them well in their math studies. Multiplication facts are actually easier to learn than you might think. First of all, it is only essential to learn the facts from 1 to 9. Somewhere along the way students can learn that anything multiplied by zero is zero. Hopefully, that is an easy one. Students also need to learn to multiply by ten as a precursor to learning how to multiply other powers of ten. After those three skills are learned, everything else is long multiplication. Multiplying by 11 is actually two-digit multiplication. Now, learning fact tables of 11 and beyond will do no harm to those students who are keen and able to learn these things quickly, and it might help them figure out how many eggs are in a gross faster than anyone else, but keep it simple for those students who struggle a bit more.

Multiplication Facts Tables
The multiplication tables with individual questions include a separate box for each number. In each box, the single number is multiplied by every other number with each question on one line. The tables may be used for various purposes such as introducing the multiplication tables, skip counting, as a lookup table, patterning activities, and memorizing.

The compact multiplication tables are basically lookup charts. To look up a multiplication fact, find the first factor in the column header and the second factor in the row headers; then use straight edges, your fingers or your eyes to find where the column and row intersect to get the product. These tables are better than the previous tables for finding patterns, but they can be used in similar ways. Each PDF includes a filled out table page and a blank table page. The blank tables can be used for practice or assessment. You might also make a game out of it, such as "Pin the Fact on the Table" (a play on Pin the Tail on the Donkey). Students are given a product (answer) and they pin it on an enlarged version or the table (photocopier enlargement, interactive whiteboard, overhead projector, etc.). Paper-saving versions with multiple tables per page are included. The left-handed versions of the multiplication tables recognize that students who use their left hands might block the row headings on the right-handed versions.

Five Minute Multiplication Frenzies
Five minute frenzy charts are 10 by 10 grids that are used for multiplication fact practice (up to 12 x 12) and improving recall speed. They are very much like compact multiplication tables, but all the numbers are mixed up, so students are unable to use skip counting to fill them out. In each square, students write the product of the column number and the row number. They try to complete the chart in a set time with an accuracy goal (such as less than five minutes and score 98 percent or better).
It is important to note here that you should NOT have students complete five minute frenzies if they don't already know all of the multiplication facts that appear on them. If you want them to participate with the rest of the class, cross off the rows and columns that they don't know and have them complete a modified version. Remember, these charts are for practice and improving recall, not a teaching tool by itself.
Students who write with their left hands may cover the row headings on the right-handed versions, so the left-handed versions have the row headings on the other side.

When a student first learns multiplication facts, try not to overwhelm them with the entire multiplication table. The following worksheets include one row of the facts in order with the target digit on the bottom and one row with the target digit on the top. The remaining rows include each of the facts once, but the target digit is randomly placed on the top or the bottom and the facts are randomly mixed on each row.

Multiplication games
Choose the table you want to practice from the following. First you can practice the multiplication facts in sequence and once you have got the hang of that you can practice all the sums in random order for each table. If you have forgotten any answers, just go back to the 'all tables in sequence' page and practice them again thoroughly before trying again.
Once you have got the hang of a number of tables you can select the speed test and choose the tables you want to practice getting quicker at. If you make a mistake, you came see what the right answer is at the end of the test. This will help you learn all of your tables. The speed test is good practice for getting your tables diploma. On the tables diploma the questions are a bit quicker than on the speed test, but if you get all of them right you will get your tables diploma. There are two tables diplomas. The little diploma is made up of 30 questions. Your little diploma shows you can do the 1,2,3,4,5 and 10 times tables. For the big tables diploma you are given 40 questions which include all the tables from 1 to 12.

Practice your multiplication tables
Here you can find additional information about practicing multiplication tables at primary school. The 1 times table, 2 times table, 3 times table, 4 times table, 5 times table and 10 times table are the first times tables to be learned. The 6 times table, 7 times table, 8 times table, 9 times table, 11 times table, 12 times table and of course all the tables in random order are the next step.
Not every child finds it easy to learn all the tables, so it is a good idea to keep on practicing them regularly after you learned them. There are a few tricks which make it easier to learn the tables and continue to master them, such as putting the smallest number first, which makes it easier for many children to answer correctly. For example 4 x 9 is easier to work out than 9 x 4. Switching the multiplication sum around makes it easier to answer. What also often helps is to use the tables you know well for answering the sums in the more difficult tables. One example of this is 6 x 7, which is often said to be tricky. If you do 5 x 7 first and then add 1 x 7 it is suddenly easier to answer. You can do this the other way round too. For instance with 4 x 7 you can do 5 x 7 first then subtract 1 x 7.
Why do we put so much effort into learning tables? Well, the multiplication tables keep on coming up in the next primary school years and even when you're at secondary school. You don't see them as tables, but as part of bigger mathematical problems. And it isn't only at school, but in your everyday life it is useful to know your times tables well so you can quickly work things out, for instance when you are buying or selling vegetables on the market. The 5-step plan
Learn the times tables with the 5-step plan. We developed an innovative five step plan to help pupils learn the times tables in an effective and efficient way. This method has been tested at several schools and is recommended by teachers. The steps are:
- Step 1a: View, read aloud and repeat. To get familiar with the table.
- Step 1b: Fill in your times tables answers in sequence and check if you got them all right.
- Step 2: Drag the correct answers to the questions.
- Step 3: Fill in your answers for the mixed questions and check if you got them all right.
- Step 4: Multiple choice questions will help you to improve by looking at the questions in a different way.
- Step 5: Proof your knowledge and get the diploma.
When you finished the 5 steps you can play the memory game or exercise with the worksheet. Other way to train more are with the tempo test, the 1 minute test or to play the times tables games.
We advise to exercise daily for 15 minutes for maximum result.
